Cam I Am

I was thinking about something the other day…

When you meet someone for the first time, the usual question that comes up is “What do you do?” or “Tell me about yourself!”..

Almost always, the person starts off with what they do for work.  Then, maybe they’ll follow up with mentioning their family situation, but they almost always start with work..

This got me thinking..  Why exactly do we define ourselves by the position/company we work for.  Even in the tagline for my blog, “cable guy” is in there.

So here’s an open question..  Why do we define ourselves by that?  Isn’t there anything else in our lives that define us?
