Wireless Printing: Mac to PC

Published by Cameron at 11:59 pm under Apple/Mac, Technology

In the past week, I have purchased a Macbook Pro.  I’ve managed to set up a wireless network so that I could transfer photos, music and other files from my PC running Vista.  Setting up wireless printing from my Mac, through the PC has been a challenge.

I was doing alright at first.  After looking over countless webpages, I found out how to add the printer to the Mac.  I had it that it would queue up on the PC.  After that, everything fizzled out.  I could not get anything to printer from the Mac.  In the process of double checking everything, I am not able to get the Mac to see the printer on the PC.

Any suggestions?

Probably a sharing permission on the Vista machine. Sharing and permissions overall is a colossal nightmare in Vista and the wrong setting on one (of a confusing multitude) of security and/or sharing options can lead to a situation like this.

In a pinch, until you do get it figured out, just plug the printer directly into one of your Macbooks – it’ll work right away, no drivers it installation of anything required.

Well, I’m not sure how I did it, but I got wireless printing to work. I tried again to set it up on my Mac, and it worked no problem. I tried on my wife’s Macbook and got it to work

    And I don’t know why..
